Mozart Square

Mozart Square is an old rectangular square located in the center of Salzburg. On the square is a monument to Mozart, erected in 1842. Also here is the famous Archbishop's Palace, the bells of which daily call the melodies of Haydn and Mozart.

For lovers of squares and monuments
A small square, in the very center of which stands a monument to Mozart (1842), by Ludwig Schwandhaler. The baroque fountain of St. Michael was demolished in order to erect a monument on this site. Guides ask you not to look for a portrait resemblance between the sculpture and Mozart himself. Alas, Schwandhaler failed to achieve such a resemblance.→
