The fortress walls of Sozopol

Sozopol Fortress Walls
Bulgaria, Sozopol
The fortress walls of Sozopol are located in the southern part of the city, on the rocky shores of the peninsula. The walls were erected at the beginning of the 6th century during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Anastasius. In some places, significant fragments of the fortification, reaching a height of 3-4 meters, have been preserved. The best preserved to this day is the square tower, which now houses the museum "Southern Fortress Wall with a Tower".

The fortress walls around the medieval Sozopol are building VI-XIV. In some places, defensive structures 5 meters high have been preserved, and their construction began even before our era. But most of all I liked the building with the inscription "Northern tower with access to the fortress of Sozopol". I got there by accident, walking through the city at night. It's a very romantic place, as evidenced by the occasional couples I've been passing along the way. By the way, right on the beach there is a wonderful restaurant overlooking the sea.
