Fortress wall Museggmauer

Museggmauer
Switzerland, Lucerne
The Museggmauer fortress wall is located in the historic center of the city near the Kapelbrücke bridge. It is a section of the medieval wall 870 meters long with eight towers, three of which (Schirmerturm, Zytturm and Mannliturm) are open to the public. An old city clock, made in 1535 by Hans Luther, hangs on the Zytturm tower.

In Lucerne, a section of the medieval wall with high towers has been preserved. Each of the towers has its own design and name. Three of them are open for inspection, but we did not get there, because we walked near the wall late in the evening. To see the inside of the wall, one has to go through the tower arch. One can only imagine how impressive these walls were during the Middle Ages. Today you will not find anything impressive there, except for a panoramic view of the city, the lake and the mountains surrounding it.
