The Guangdong Provincial Museum is one of the oldest museums in the country, founded in 1959. The museum is entirely devoted to the history of the province and the country. Among its exhibits are a 4-ton meteorite, Qing Dynasty gem, Buddha statue, Song Dynasty "Dark Dragon Painting". It also hosts international scientific and cultural conferences.
