Morzin Palace

Morzinsky Palace
Czech republic, Prague
The Baroque building is located in the center of Prague, at the end of Nerudova Street. The history of the appearance of the palace is as follows: in 1668, four Gothic buildings became the property of Count Vaclav Morzin, who wished to combine them into one luxurious building, which was completed in 1713-1714 thanks to the famous architect Giovanni Santini Aichl. The facade of the building is decorated with sculptures of the Moors, "holding" the balcony, as well as allegorical busts (Day and Night) above the portals. As for the interior, some rooms can boast of Renaissance ceilings, rococo walls and classicist furniture. The spiral wooden staircase deserves special attention. The building has two courtyards, equipped with gardens and fountains. The Morzin Palace currently serves as the Romanian embassy in the Czech Republic.

One of the most important examples of high baroque style in Prague. In 1668, this four-story building became the property of the Morzin family. In 1713-1714, the palace was built by order of Count Vaclav Morzin, designed by the famous architect Jan Blazei Santini. Together with the Thun-Hohenstein Palace, it is considered a masterpiece of Santini's work. The palace has two courtyards with fountains and a garden. The main portal is decorated with large sculptures of Moors, on top of the bust portal - allegorical images of Day and Night.
