The Pergamon Museum is located in the center of Berlin - on the Museum Island. Its first building was built in 1897–1898 and demolished in 1908. The design of the new building in 1907 was carried out by Alfred Messel, and after his death by Ludwig Hoffmann. The construction of the second building of the Pergamon Museum was completed in 1930. Now there are collections of three museums: the Antique Collection, the Museum of Islamic Art and the Near Asian Museum.

Pergamon is a popular museum.
Pergamon is one of the most popular museums in Berlin. The museum was opened specifically to store the main attraction - the Pergamon Altar. Now the museum is under reconstruction, and just this part was closed. But even in the photos - very impressive! The Antique Collection, the Asiatic Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art are the three main expositions of the Pergamon Museum. The whole point of the museum is that fragments of once existing buildings, gates, frescoes and sculptures have been restored here.→

Museum built for exhibits.
Usually we visit all museums on our own. In this case, neither I nor my companion knew anything special about the exhibits, so we decided to join the tour. 30 euros for a 2 hour tour that was very boring for us. It wasn't worth it. It was possible to see it all on our own a little faster. The museum was built specifically for the exhibits. The exhibits are interesting, especially if you imagine when they were created. On closer inspection, the Ishtar Gate has very little of the original and a lot of restoration.→
