The Old Museum is a museum of antiquity in the north of the Spreinsel Island in Berlin. The museum fund owns a collection of works of art from ancient Greece and Rome. Its construction was carried out in 1822-1830 according to the project of the German architect and artist Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The wide staircase leading to the main entrance has two equestrian statues on both sides - the Lion Fighter and the Fighting Amazon. In front of the entrance is a seven-meter "Granite bowl" made of solid stone. The first exposition of the museum was a private collection of Prussian kings.

This museum was built to house the art collection of the Prussian royal family. And later, a collection of antique art objects was added to it. Hence the second name - the museum of ancient art. This is the oldest museum on Museum Island, although it was he who served as the basis for the creation of the entire "Museum Island". Like other museums, the building was badly damaged during the Second World War. The museum was later restored and reopened to the public.
