River Nile

nile river
Egypt, Cairo
The Nile is the largest river in Africa and the second longest river in the world after the Amazon. The Nile flows from the south through the territory of 8 countries, flowing into the Mediterranean Sea in the north near Alexandria. Not far from Cairo, which is divided by the Nile into two parts, the river delta begins with an area of 24 thousand km², with numerous branches, channels and lagoon lakes. In winter, several hundred thousand waterfowl live in the delta. A section of the Nile with a length of almost 1,500 km passes through Egypt, where almost 97% of the country's population lives in a coastal strip up to 15 km wide. The Nile periodically floods, bringing a large amount of silt that settles during the spill and serves as an excellent fertilizer for agriculture.

Among numerous tourists, excursions-cruises along the Nile with a route length of about 220 km, made on a special liner on the segment from Luxor to Aswan, are popular. The cruise will give an opportunity for several days to visit Cairo, Luxor, the temple of Horus in Edfe and the temple of Sebek in Kom Ombo, see the Aswan dam, the temple of Isis and the obelisk of Hatshepsut.

We were offered a walk along the Nile during an excursion to the Pyramids. At first we were skeptical about this, because many tourists said that there was nothing special about it, but nevertheless we decided to pay $ 5 per person and ride a boat on the Nile than sit on a bus and wait for others to ride. And we didn't regret it! The guide showed us the city from the side of the river, told us a lot of interesting things, the "captain" of our ship gave each child the opportunity to steer. And the most important thing is the feeling that you are floating on the longest river in the world.
