We go into the fortress (5e) - a military facility of the 20th century, that is, not a medieval castle at all. We are interested today mainly as an observation deck on top of Montjuic with views of Barcelona, the commercial port, and the sea.

This is the oldest structure on the entire hill. When the troops of the Spanish king were advancing on Barcelona, a fortress grew around the medieval watchtower that stood here in record time, in a few weeks. After it was captured, recaptured and even used until 1960 as a military prison. In addition to the opportunity to touch history, they rise here for the sake of views of Barcelona. Entrance to the fortress 5 euros.

The easiest way to climb Mount Montjuic is by cable car. The cabins float smoothly, a little scary, but the view of the city, the port and the sea is worth it. There is frankly nothing to do on the mountain itself, there is an old fortress - a fort with cannons and other medieval paraphernalia, there is a military museum, which we did not get into, and beautiful panoramas of the city. Therefore, after taking photos and drinking coffee or juice in a cafe nearby, you can immediately go back. You can go down on foot and on the same cable car.
