Louvre

Musee du Louvre, Louvre Museum
France, Paris
The Louvre is one of the largest museums in the world (the third in the world in terms of occupied area: 160,106 square meters, of which 58,470 are expositions). The museum is located in the center of Paris, on the right bank of the Seine, on Rue Rivoli, in the 1st arrondissement of the capital.

The museum building is an old royal palace. The Louvre is one of the oldest museums with a rich history of collecting art and historical relics in France, from the time of the Capetian dynasty to the present day.

Everything was collected in the Louvre, this museum can be called universal. His collections cover vast geographic and temporal spaces: from Western Europe to Iran through Greece, Egypt and the Middle East; from antiquity to 1848. European art of the latest period of time - from 1848 to the present day - is presented at the Musée d'Orsay and the Center Georges Pompidou, and Asian art is exhibited at the Guimet Museum. The art of Africa, America and Oceania is on display at the Quai Branly Museum.

We were on our own at the end of January. There was no queue at all! I was delighted! I just cried in the Greek hall... Very annoying tourists giggling idiotically and pointing fingers at the sexual characteristics of sculptures, as well as idiots taking selfies with masterpieces! The painting of the Mona Lisa disappointed! It is impossible to get close to it to appreciate it, and from the distance at which it is located, it looks no better than some kind of reproduction! I really liked the hall dedicated to Africa! I think he is not deservedly not advertised!.

We were in Paris in November. There was no long queue at the entrance, although there were quite a lot of visitors. In the evening, the flow of tourists is reduced, so it is better to visit the Louvre at this time of day. For convenience and saving time, it is better to find out in advance on the Internet the location of the paintings that you want to see, and make a route around the museum. The Louvre is an incredibly atmospheric and beautiful place, the eyes just run up in numerous halls. As expected, the Mona Lisa hall was very crowded, as many people want to see the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci.

I set aside a whole day for the Louvre. I noted that I wanted to see (and I wanted to see as much as possible), I didn’t go to some departments at all, and then I barely managed to meet it. Hope I get there again. What pleasantly surprised me, I went with a child of 16 years old, so he passed for free (I had a photocopy of his document with the date of birth). Free, I think up to 18, check.

I always go to the Louvre when I am in Paris and, in my opinion, it is simply endless and every time new and interesting. Even just running through it at a time will not work. Within the excursions of bus tours, they tell about the history and show, as a rule, three famous Ladies of the Louvre: the Nike of Samothrace, the Venus de Milo and the famous Monna Lisa, the Mona Lisa. The rest already depends on the enthusiasm of the guide. We always go by ourselves. The entrance is 16 euros, if I'm not mistaken.
