The square on which the Hotel de Ville stands has been the site of public executions for many centuries (the famous Place de Grè ve). The old town hall building (14th century) burned down during the era of the Commune. The new one was built at the end of the 19th century in the same Renaissance style. It now houses the City Council.
The building is very beautiful, must see
