Cathedral of Notre Dame

Notre Dame de Paris, Notre Dame de Paris, Notre Dame Cathedral
France, Paris
Notre Dame Cathedral - the geographical and spiritual "heart" of Paris, is located in the eastern part of the island of Cité, on the site of the first Christian church in Paris - the Basilica of St. Stephen, built, in turn, on the site of the Gallo-Roman temple of Jupiter.

The cathedral shows a duality of stylistic influences: on the one hand, there are echoes of the Romanesque style of Normandy with its powerful and dense unity, and on the other hand, innovative architectural achievements of the Gothic style are used, which give the building lightness and give the impression of simplicity of vertical construction. The cathedral houses one of the great Christian relics - the Crown of Thorns of Jesus Christ.

This attraction does not need any reviews or advertisements. This is a must-visit place, especially if you have already arrived in Paris. It doesn't make sense to describe. The cathedral is simply mesmerizing, especially if you visit it during a service or at an organ concert.

Reasons to visit: 1. For us, as budget tourists, the price was important. So: the entrance is free, the photo inside is free, even putting a candle is free of charge, they spent only on the metro. 2. The cathedral is sooooo old and took sooo long to build. Therefore, eclecticism in architecture does not hold. From different sides it looks like different buildings. Inside it is no less interesting, get ready for the fact that it will take an hour and a half to bypass it. 3. Behind there is a beautiful park, the entrance to which is still free) to sit and eat sandwiches.

It is impossible to visit Paris and not visit Notre Dame de Paris. And not just for a tick to be noted: "I was there", but to feel the greatness of this place. No one can say how many generations of people prayed here, since there was also an ancient Roman temple on this place before the construction of the cathedral. Now about the mundane. From the side of the Apse (the opposite side from the entrance) there is a wonderful garden with benches - to relax. When I went there was a free toilet.

Describing the grandeur of such places does not make sense. They must be seen, visited and more than once. The visit to the Cathedral is free. Inside, in addition to all sorts of beauties, there are areas where satnaya services can take place, therefore, as well as in other existing places of worship, they are asked not to make noise. For 1-2 euros in the machine you can buy a commemorative medal with the image of the Cathedral. On the square in front of the cathedral on the right there is a paid underground WC.
