Its name is associated with the priceless golden mosaics that are inside the temple (deauro - gilding). This church is also called the Church of the Black Madonna. The main value of the temple is the statue of the Black Madonna. The Mother of God has been revered since ancient times, but it is not known why her images were made black. There is no dome in the temple, because in connection with the threat of collapse it was dismantled and no longer restored. Every year, the ceremony of presenting a violet flower to the winner of literary competitions is held here (a tradition dating back to the time of the troubadours). The church is located right on the Garrona embankment.
