Chrissi Island

Golden Island, Donkey Island, Chrysi, Chrissi, Gaidouronisi
Greece, Ierapetra
Chrissi is an uninhabited island 20 km south of Ierapetra. It is 5 km long and 1 km wide. The island is famous for its sandy beaches, dunes and pine and juniper forests. In the west of the island, there are the ruins of an ancient settlement of the Minoan era and the ruins of the 13th century chapel of St. Nicholas.

Today the island is under state protection. During the summer, the island attracts many tourists, but since construction of any objects on the island is prohibited, only day trips are possible. Ferries depart daily from the port of Ierapetra.

Very clean Libyan Sea. Visibility is over 1.5 meters. The water is probably 25-26 degrees. Take a mask with you and watch the beautiful inhabitants of the underwater kingdom. It's easy to tan and burn out in one hour. So cream is a must. The sun is active on the other side. Umbrellas with sun loungers 15 euros. Expensive. Did without them. The kids and I really enjoyed the trip. For those who are going there, advice: the ferry goes there for 1 hour and remember the name of the boat. The return ticket is valid for this particular boat.

My friend and I decided to go on our own to the island of Chrissi from Ierapetra (the schedule is at the reception, it’s better to go on Saturday, there are no people) with all travel expenses, the amount per person was 20 euros + 10 euros for 2 sun loungers and an umbrella on the beach. The ferry departs between 10.30 and 11.00, tickets can be bought at every corner. You are sailing on a ferry and you understand that the sea of all shades of blue and blue, I have never seen such a riot of colors.
