The Acropolis of Lindos is located on a steep rock that has been fortified by nature itself. The area of ​​the Acropolis of Lindos is 8400 square meters. Here in the IV century BC. there was a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena.

On the territory of the acropolis are both ancient and medieval buildings. Off to the side of the outer entrance is a small square built on underground cisterns, below the open side of a steep rock, on which a ship is carved to commemorate the victory of Rhodes in a naval battle in 180 BC. A steep flight of stairs leads to the gatehouse, which, together with the adjoining buildings (the commander's house and the castle chapel), was built by the Knights of the Order of St. John and was not destroyed by the excavators studying this ancient site.
