The Ibrahim Pasha Mosque was built in 947 AH (1540/1541 AD) on the site of today's Platon Square by Sultan Suleiman and is thus the oldest mosque on the island. The mosque consists of a large square room with a dodecahedral dome and two successive pediments along the north side. In the north-west corner of the roof stands a minaret on a polygonal base. In the middle of the courtyard outside, an octagonal fountain can be found. The minaret has a cylindrical shape and a single balcony. Today, it is the only mosque open to worship by the Turkish-Muslim community of Rhodes.→
