Ruins of the city of Kamiros

Kameiros, Kameiros, Kamiros, Camiros, Ruins of Kamiros
Greece, Rhodes
Kamiros is one of the three largest Doric cities, which in the 5th century BC united into a powerful polis-state of Rhodes. It is located 30 km from the city of Rhodes. Kamiros can be considered a model of the Greek policy of the era of classicism and in terms of its scale is not inferior to the ancient Pompeii.

On a hill overlooking the sea, there are impressive ruins that date back to the Hellenistic era. Among the ruins of the city you can see the Doric arch, the altar, the Doric temple and the square. At the top of the hill is an acropolis with a massive northern arch (3rd century BC), which was built on top of a reservoir to collect water.

It is advisable to get here on your own, if you decide to go. The place did not cause much excitement. Beautiful panoramas of the sea and Turkey are, in principle, all that pleased. The ruins did not captivate, because they are not exciting. )

Ordinary, just big ruins-ruins. It is not particularly interesting to look at a pile of ancient stones. Views also did not affect to the depths, and indeed not particularly affected. Did not like. Entrance - 4 euros.

In this place you can feel the history of this island, which stretches far beyond our era. The ruins were found about 120 years ago. In this category of attractions - this is the pearl of Rhodes. Well-preserved things (for example, elements of a bath) allow you to feel the atmosphere of Ancient Greece. Completing the pleasant feeling of the place is a beautiful view from the slopes of the Aegean Sea and the outlines of the island of Symi. Of course, take plenty of water with you and something for your head, because there is practically no shade here.
