Split (Croatian: Split, Italian: Spalato) is a city with more than 1.700 years of history. The largest city in Dalmatia and the second largest city in the country after the capital - Zagreb. It is located in the central part of the Adriatic coast between the cities of Zadar and Dubrovnik. The population is 17.102 people. The city is located on the Marjan peninsula between the Kastela Bay and the Split Canal at the foot of the Mosor Mountains (the highest peak is Mosor, 1330 meters). Sister city Odessa.

We traveled to Split by public transport in order to see the city in general, and Diocletian's palace in particular. We started, of course, with the palace. Having bypassed everything that could be bypassed, we still did not understand where he (the emperor) grew cabbage? : )))) In order to see better, we decided to climb the tower, the entrance to which was paid, but we were lucky - we managed to somehow seep in for free, attaching ourselves to some sightseers. Having risen upward, we saw two seas at once - the Adriatic and the Red Sea (tiled).

I would call Split the city of Diocletian. A huge imperial palace, on the remains of which the city grew. The palace is surprisingly well preserved. Even if you are completely far from ancient Roman history and culture, the grandiose remains of the palace will not leave you indifferent. I think it will be interesting to wander around the palace with a tour, but if you prepare from home, then it’s not difficult to figure it out on the spot. My friends and I went on our own, half a day to wander around and eat was enough for us.
