The Port of Eilat is the only Israeli port on the Red Sea, located at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba. The port opened in 1957 and is now mainly used for trade with the countries of the Far East. It allows Israeli cargo to enter the Indian Ocean without passing through the Suez Canal.
