Islay ancient city

Town of Alyla
Jordan, Aqaba
Ayla is an ancient city of pre-biblical times that was once part of the Roman Empire. In its place is now modern Aqaba. The first settlement arose about six thousand years ago. According to biblical legends, this city existed under King Solomon and was located at the crossroads of trade routes from Asia, Africa and Europe. At the site of ancient Ayla, archaeological excavations are still being carried out (which have already revealed to the world the ruins of the city gates, walls with towers and a mosque).
