One of the four main squares of the old town of Ancona, Piazza Cavour was designed in 1862, after the unification of Italy, and opened in 1868. The square is named after Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour, one of the founders of modern Italy. His statue, created by the famous Risorgimento artist Aristodemo Costoli, is located in the center of the square. The pedestal of the monument is decorated with two bas-reliefs depicting the Congress of Paris and the Proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy. A tactile model of the monument is installed nearby.→
