I went there on purpose. More precisely, we were brought to the square from the Cathedral of Del Fiore, and I'm here on foot. It's hard to tell you. I need some water with me next time, if there is one : -)
But it was worth it. Everything that I have found in Florence up to this moment has not been close.
It was built in honor of Saint Miniato, a prince who was beheaded for his Christian faith. According to legend, before his head was cut off, he was thrown into the amphitheater to wild animals, however, the animals did not touch him. After the execution, Miniato's head was taken to a cave on Mount Florentina. Subsequently, a chapel was erected there, and in 1012 Bishop Hildebrand decided to build a church. Mount Florentina is the most peaceful place in Italy.
Great view of Florence. The cathedral is open to the public until late in the evening. Amazing frescoes. In the evenings, the organ plays not even during the service.
It was also necessary to take a photo from the doors of the basilica, but there was a wedding and policemen, somehow not comme il faut. I'm not a savage to break into someone else's wedding : -)
But this view...Live, it shocks incredibly. Absolute beauty. And then you understand. You understand why everything Italian is beautiful and constantly attracts attention.. .
