Monte Citorio Square

Montecitorio Square, Piazza di Monte Citorio, Piazza di Monte Citorio
Italy, Rome
Piazza Monte Citorio is named after a small hill Rome and is located on the site of an ancient amphitheatre. In the center of the square rises the obelisk of Montecitorio with heraldic stars, brought from the ancient Egyptian Heliopolis. On the square is the baroque palace of Montecitorio, where the Chamber of Deputies now sits, and the Palazzo Wedekind. Previously, the pedestal of the column of Antoninus Pius also stood on the square, later transferred to the Field of Mars.
