Shamansky beach

Shamanistan
Latvia, Riga
This five-kilometer "wild" section on the shores of the Gulf of Riga in Lilaste, near the mouth of the Gauja River, is not just a beach, but a place of pilgrimage, contemplation and power, where everyone can create their own fairy-tale world. Shamanistan was found in 2002 and created in its current form by the Riga artist Maxim Zolotukhin.

Maxim began to install in the sand found on the shore driftwood of an outlandish shape, processed by the sea and wind, painting them in a shamanistic style. He was joined by other lovers of the unusual and mystical, soon the sanctuary, called here Urga, stretched along the sea for a couple of hundred meters. This place has become popular among Latvian residents and tourists. At the end of 2015, unknown barbarians destroyed the territory of Shamanistan. A lot of effort went into at least partial restoration of this fabulous and mysterious place.

My children and I have been there more than once and I fell in love with these places. At first glance - the sea, the beach and kiters riding the wind with colorful sails. From the first breath: special air pulsates here, special energies that do not let go - it’s not easy to leave, you’ll see. Love from the first breath of the breeze and the rustling of the waves, they grab the heels and tickle, arching their backs, purring like kittens, to then turn into snow-white lace on the shore .. .

The best way to talk about this place on his page in the social. network, its creator himself - an eccentric man Maxim Zolotukhin: “I am a shaman and an artist. Myth and reality came together in my life when I discovered my place of Power - a wild beach in Latvia, later called Shamanistan. Founded by me in 2002, the territory of Urga grows every year with new and new miracle idols - spirits embodied in outlandish sea snags. Urga is the heart of Shamanistan - an amazing multifaceted phenomenon that carries many meanings, swirling incredible events and discoveries around itself, awakening a rich range of sensations and influences.
