De Wallen red light district

Red-light district de Wallen
Netherlands, Amsterdam
The De Wallen red light district is the largest and most famous red light district in Amsterdam and one of the city's main attractions. It is located in the center of the oldest part of Amsterdam, occupies a few blocks south of the Old Church and is crossed by several canals. There are almost 300 tiny one-room apartments rented by prostitutes who offer their services from behind a window or glass door, usually lit with red light. The area also has the Museum of Erotica and the Hashish Museum, as well as many sex shops, porn theatres, peep shows and coffee shops.

How can you not visit here if you found yourself in Amsterdam? ! Even just out of curiosity. Was there during the day and in the evening. There is a difference. During the day, "girls" also work, but less. Some of them have their curtains open and half-dressed to invite customers. Taking pictures is strictly not advised, there can be big problems. In the evening, everything is much brighter, more cheerful and richer, there are many anxious men, but there are also plenty of onlookers-tourists. In the evening it is better not to walk alone.

I advise you to visit the street both during the day and in the evening. During the day it is interesting to see what the "ladies" do in their free time + not many tourists. And in the evening - you know???? Most importantly, do not try to shoot on camera, for this girls can smack, and break the phone, and you never know what else. Better not risk it!

The history of the most famous Quarter of Amsterdam begins in the 14th century, when the city quickly grew into a major port center. At first, the city authorities tried in every possible way to fight the "corrupt love" that flourished in the port, but after that they allocated a separate area for the priestesses of love. In 1911, the city authorities legally recognized prostitution, but the activities of brothels were legalized only in 2000. Why are the lights red? It turns out that the red backlight favorably emphasizes the color of the skin and hides all its flaws.

Treat it like an exclusive Amsterdam attraction. I think this forum has gathered people who go to Amsterdam, not only to the Red Light District. During the day, the quarter does not differ from an ordinary city in any way. But in the evening, everything lights up with lights and girls appear in the windows. Be careful, hide the cameras, you can’t take pictures there, and they can even break the camera if they see it. Well, you definitely need to walk, otherwise your impression of Amsterdam will be incomplete.
