Mielno is a coastal town in Koszalin County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northwestern Poland. This area is called Gmina Mielno. It is located about 12 km northwest of Koszalin and 135 km northeast of the regional capital Szczecin.
It was here that we came to see the Polish sea, to wet our feet, so to speak. The Poles have a tradition - in the winter to the mountains (their own), in the summer to the sea (their own), at least not for long. So we rushed to the Baltic Sea for a day.
We expected to see something like Berdyansk or Skadovsk, but we saw something more. As our Polish acquaintances said, this is precisely a youth resort, such as for golden youth, but somehow we did not feel the show-off. Although there is a resort atmosphere here (everything in tourists and hotels is the same as ours), but everything is somehow not the same as in our resorts. Firstly, the weather is different - there is no crazy scorching sun and heat. Second, nature! Beautiful pine forest! We definitely don't have that. The sea is not visible!
And the sea does not smell at all! And the sea is almost not salty! The sea is hidden from people precisely behind the pine forest. At the beginning we were even confused! Where is the sea?
More than a third of the territory of the commune is occupied by Lake Yamno. It is separated from the Baltic Sea by a sandy spit. That also adds originality!
While we were walking to the sea, we saw a lot of interesting things - lakes with swans and their babies, who are not afraid of people. A forest in which not only we, but also other tourists got lost. Then the beautiful dunes! And a wide sandy beach!
And some kind of peace (no barbecue and attractions with loud music). Only nature! True, there are some disadvantages of the lack of beach infrastructure - no fungi, no showers, no toilets, nowhere to drink and eat on the beach. We are not used to this at all. Everyone comes with their own sheets and towels (and windbreaks), drinks and food are also taken with them.
It’s not clear where to go to the toilet, but somehow you don’t buy much in the sea, because it’s not hot. And the forest is very clean. In general, it probably makes sense to stay on the beach as long as possible without satisfying natural needs. We also coped, did not swim, lay on the beach for two hours and the rain drove us back. Our Polish friends advised us to come in September, when the water warms up. Well, I don’t even know ...One day at sea, of course, is not enough, but a week with an overcast sky is also not the most joyful. Yes, and getting here is somehow not convenient. Now in Poland, the period of restructuring roads (both road and railway), trains run randomly (there are not just one owner, but several). Transfers, this is not for a vacation, but to travel by car, these are exhausted nerves. The Poles rush at a great speed, and if you get to the holidays, then you are provided with traffic jams and toffees.
In general, although Mielno made a good impression on us, but to go here again, you’ll think about it ...Although nature is unusually good!
