Herring stones

Herrings
Poland, Legnica
A complex of eight three-story bourgeois apartment buildings of the 16th century, built on the site of former stalls selling herring (hence the name). The buildings are located in the center of the Polish city of Legnica, in close proximity to the Old Town Hall. Four of them were built in the Renaissance style, four more in the classical style. Such architectural diversity is dictated by the numerous reconstructions to which these houses were subjected over the course of several centuries.

Herring houses (kamyanitsy), also known as herring houses (Kamienice Sledziowe - Sledziowki) - a complex of eight three-storey historic apartment buildings located in the market quarter in Legnica, in the immediate vicinity of the Old Town Hall. This is a complex of Renaissance (four) and Classicist (four) apartment buildings, probably built in the 16th century on the site of former herring stalls (the first mention of their existence dates back to 1574). The variety of styles is the result of numerous renovations that influenced these buildings over the following centuries.
