Ruins of the Crusader castle in Torun

Ruins of the castle of the Teutonic Order, Toruń Order Castle
Poland, Torun
The Crusader Castle in Torun is one of the first Teutonic castles in Poland. It was built in 1236, when, under an agreement with Prince Konrad, the Crusader Knights settled here to protect the territory from the Prussians. In the XIV century, the castle was stormed and destroyed, and then a dump was formed in its place. Currently, thanks to archaeological excavations, Toruń Castle has been partially restored and is open to the public.

I love places like this. The castle is located in the historical part of the city on the banks of the Vistula River. Unfortunately, little has been preserved: part of the walls, one of the towers (Gdanisko, the so-called toilet tower), where you can go. But the good news is that nothing crumbles from the touch. From the walls of the castle offers a picturesque view of the river. You can go down to the dungeon, where there is something like a room of fear, some exhibits are located. In all parts of the castle there are signs describing a particular place.
