Salt mine in Wieliczka

Wieliczka Salt Mines, Kopalnia soli Wieliczka
Poland, Wieliczka
The salt mine in Wieliczka is a rock salt deposit that was mined from the 13th to the 20th century. In the 15th century, the Velichka salt mine began to be shown to privileged persons for educational purposes. Until the end of the next century, tourism remained elite, it was possible to visit the salt mines only with the permission of the king.
The healing qualities of salt began to be actively used in 1826, when treatment with salt baths began. From 1939 to 1955, 36 diseases were treated here in the baths. Medical activity returned to the mines in 1958 on the initiative of Dr. Mieczysław Skulimowski, who treated bronchial asthma, bronchial inflammation and allergic rhinitis.
The salt mine has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978.

Very interesting, atmospheric place. I've been here before, but a lot has changed recently, new places have been added. The groups are recruited for a while, but we arrived by bus from the center of Krakow. There were no problems to get there or get on the tour. I recommend to everyone.

Wieliczka is a salt mine. Well done Poles - from just a mine they made an object of attraction for tourists, and even a universal scale - a UNESCO monument, must see ...We have already visited the rocket mine, now we visited the salt mine ...I won’t climb into a coal mine or any other mine ...Art objects carved from salt in the spirit of primitivism were not impressed. But overall it's impressive. The most beautiful mine I have ever seen in my life!

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the strongest impressions in recent years. The scale of the museum is breathtaking, the depth to which you descend. Many salt sculptures, a magnificent underground church, magical lakes - all this must be seen at least once in a lifetime. I will definitely come back here and definitely with a normal excursion. Ask the guide to speak into the microphone, otherwise a lot of interesting information will pass you by.

Well, if fate brought you to Krakow, then you just need to visit the salt mines in Wieliczka, especially since they are located very close - only 10 km and getting there is quite easy. Descent into the mine on foot along the wooden stairs. You have to climb quite a few steps to get to the bottom. The mine is very unusual and interesting. Just imagine: you are walking along a long corridor, incredible sculptures are everywhere, the floor, ceiling, walls - everything is made of salt! Everything inside is made of salt, except for some wooden steps.
