Monument to the plumber

Monument plumber Chumil, Monument to onlookers
Slovakia, Bratislava
A bronze monument to a plumber or Chumil onlooker is located in the Old Town of Bratislava, on the sidewalk at the intersection at the intersection of Panska, Rybarska, Sedlarska and Laurinska streets. The author of the monument, Viktor Gulik, depicted the figure of a man who leaned up to his chest from a half-open sewer manhole and, resting his chin on his hands folded in front of him, looks at passers-by with a mysterious smile. It is believed that the sculptor paid tribute not only to plumbers and plumbers, but also to the Slovaks, who during the Second World War hid from the bombings in the city sewer.
Having appeared in 1997, the monument has become one of the symbols of the capital of Slovakia, near which there is always a line of people who want to capture it as a souvenir of tourists. At one time, Prince Charles was photographed with Chumil. If you look closely, you can see that the plumber's head is not a work helmet, but a cap with a pom-pom. There is an opinion that if you rub the onlooker's headdress, then your wish will come true, so the top of the cap is rubbed to a shine. The monument to the plumber became so popular that its analogues began to appear in different cities of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.

Bratislava is famous for its unusual attractions, which were established by the city authorities in order to make the city more attractive from a tourist point of view. At the small intersection of Panska and Laurinska streets is probably the most popular statue, from which the decoration of the streets of Bratislava with funny sculptures began. Finding them, taking pictures next to them and rubbing them in the right, "magical" places is the sacred duty of every traveler who comes to Bratislava. You may not see Bratislava Castle, but you must sit on the pavement next to Chumil.

This summer I was lucky enough to make a small tour of Central Europe. I also visited Bratislava, in this city I remember most of all the unique monument to the plumber. The monument depicts a smiling man in a helmet, who, resting his hands on the sidewalk, looks at the people passing by. There is a warning sign near this monument, there are no other limiters on the street, so if, walking along the street, you gape, you can hurt your foot on the statue. I was told that if you rub a plumber's helmet, a wish can come true.
