Amphitheater of Bodrum

Bodrum Amphitheater, Bodrum Amphitheater
Turkey, Bodrum
The amphitheater, spread out on the hillside of Göktepe, was built in the 4th century BC. under Mausolus and accommodated about 13 thousand spectators. In 1973, after archaeological excavations were carried out on the territory of the amphitheater, it was turned into an open-air museum.
The most visible sign of the new stage of restoration for visitors was the entrance to the tunnel, which was discovered during previous works, but has not been fully opened and studied until now. This tunnel is supposed to lead to an ancient tomb.
Tourists love to visit the amphitheater, which offers a magnificent view of the sunset. They say that this spectacle impressed Alexander the Great in his time so much that he, having destroyed almost the entire Bodrum in anger, decided not to touch the amphitheater.

Ancient antiquity for 10 lira. You can climb anywhere, words won't tell you. But it is very hot there, the sun is just crazy. You can’t buy water nearby, take more with you.

It is difficult to describe the impressions when you touch history. As a lover of ancient stone structures, I was very impressed by the amphitheater. We were also lucky that there was no one there but us. Silence and the spirit of history were in the air, creating an indescribable atmosphere, and when you touch the stones, it seems that you are touching history itself. I highly recommend visiting this place to everyone who has a rest in Bodrum. And I’m very sorry that I didn’t manage to take decent photos of this place, I was extremely upset by this, besides, there are few high-quality photos on the network.
