The house of the regimental office is the administrative building of the office of the Cossack regiments, which was built at the end of the 17th century. In 1698 the house belonged to Hetman Ivan Mazepa. This is a one-story rectangular brick building, white in color, its decor is distinguished by the severity of lines, which is typical for the Ukrainian baroque style. The house was divided into two parts: the female and male half. At the end of the 19th century, additional windows were pierced for convenience. The house of the regimental office is part of the complex of the National Architectural and Historical Reserve "Ancient Chernihiv".

Mazepa's house
The building of the regimental chancellery was damaged during the fires of 1718 and 1750. In the second half of the eighteenth century. a vestibule with a figured pediment was added to the northern faç ade and another small vestibule was arranged - the entrance to the basement outside. An attic hatch was cut in one of the vaults. In the XIX century. furnaces were dismantled in the house, new windows on the eastern and western facades were broken, and the roof was replaced with tin. The house was restored in 1954 and 1969.→

Mazepa the libertine
One of the standard “walk-by” sights of Chernihiv Detynets, since you can’t go inside. And this, to my great regret, if only because, according to encyclopedias, there is a six-chamber cellar under the house, with a ceiling height of 3 m. The guide tells the legend about the underage Motrya, who fell in love with Mazepa (or whom he seduced). And now at night on Detinets you can meet her sinful soul, which wanders, waiting for forgiveness and guarding the legendary treasures of Mazepa. After these words, the guide makes a significant pause, after which, with complete seriousness, with bewilderment, he adds, “But I personally have never met her, and I don’t know who would have met her.→
