The memorial complex "The Height of Marshal I.S. Konev" is located near the Kharkov village of Solonitsevka, at a height where in the summer of 1943 there was an observation point of the commander of the Steppe Front, Colonel-General I.S. Konev, from which the order was given to storm Kharkov, liberated from the Nazis on August 23, 1943. In 1980, an obelisk 18.6 meters high was built at a height. In 2003, during the reconstruction, the chapel of Ivan the Warrior was built here, a retaining wall was built, a parking lot was equipped, the obelisk and the stele under it were updated, and the lighting system was improved.
On August 23, 2005, near the complex, in 7 halls of a specially designed building, the Museum "Kharkiv Region in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" was opened, which became part of the communal institution "Memorial complex" Height of Marshal I.S. Konev ". By the Decree of the President of the country dated May 14, 2008, the complex was awarded the status of "National".
