Anthony caves

Ukraine, Liubech
Anthony's caves are located in Lyubech. They consist of two caves - Near and Far. They got their name in honor of St. Anthony of the Caves, who founded his monastery here in the 11th century. Previously, the caves were part of the complex of the St. Anthony Monastery, closed in 1786 by order of Empress Catherine II. The Far Cave, which is located in the forest, is the best preserved. The nearby cave was discovered relatively recently, in the center of Lyubech, excavations are still underway here.

The caves are part of the monastery complex. The nearest one is located on the territory of the park of the former Miloradovichi estate - it is easy to find, it is located directly under the observation deck and has recently been restored from the outside. It is not big inside, because it was dug by one person - personally St. Anthony of the Caves. As for the amenities inside, I haven’t been, but the view from the cave is beautiful. Once there was a well, but now it is gone. But to the cave you can go and pray.
