Monument to Danila Galitsky

Monument to Danil Galitsky
Ukraine, Ternopil
The monument to the ancient Russian prince Danylo Galitsky (1201-1264), the unifier of the Western Ukrainian lands, was erected in Ternopil in October 2002, on the 800th anniversary of the birth of the prince, on the site of the monument to V.I. Lenin, demolished in 1990. Sitting on his mighty warhorse, Prince Galitsky clutches a huge sword in his right hand, the gaze of the great commander and statesman is directed towards the former Dominican church, located opposite. In 1254, Danila of Galicia, having managed to unite the Galicia-Volyn state in his hands, became the first king of Russia. Under him, the spread of Western culture began, the introduction of state and administrative management of the European type.
