Church of Anthony of Padua

Church of St. Anthony of Padua
Ukraine, Zhytomyr
The church was built in 1786 in the village of Staraya Kotelnya, Zhytormir region. It is located to the east of the ancient Russian settlement near the covered defensive moat. The Baroque church is a brick, three-nave, four-pillar basilica with a five-sided presbytery and rectangular sacristy, with spiral oak staircases (similar spiral staircases are located on both sides of the main entrance and lead to the choirs). The central nave is covered with semi-circular vaults with formwork, the side ones - with cross vaults. The facades are decorated with paired Ionic pilasters with garlands in capitals, the arch of the main entrance is flanked by Tuscan columns. The building runs around a developed multi-profile cornice. The monument is surrounded by a brick fence with gates and a three-span bell tower in the northeast corner.
