Manor in Ivnitsa

Manor de Chaudouard in Ivnitsa
Ukraine, Zhytomyr
The manor was built in the second half of the 18th century and is located in the middle of an old park, taken under state protection. Ivnitsa estate in the 19th century acquired by the family of French barons Chaudoir. The undergrowth has never been cut down here, and nightingales made their nests in it. Part of the estate is occupied by a dark, impenetrable spruce forest, and maple alleys lead to a picturesque bend of the river. The ensemble consists of several structures: the main entrance gate, three towers of the fence (the fourth has not been preserved) and an outbuilding. Located on the terrace near the river. Ivenki, a two-story building of the palace, was demolished in the 19th century.

The front entrance gates in the Baroque style are located along the axis of the former palace in the alignment of the pre-existing fence. They are built of red brick and represent a Baroque symmetrical composition, composed of two round and one square columns with entablature, grouped on triangular pedestals on both sides of the main entrance.
The last representative of the Chaudoir family died in 1919. Since then, treasure hunters have been looking for the notorious treasures in the Chaudoir estates. Parks suffered the most - they were repeatedly dug up and down. During the occupation, even Wehrmacht officers succumbed to the bacillus of treasure hunting. They dug through the entire park in the Zhytomyr estate Shoduarov (now a city park) and even sawed up some of the statues, but the treasure was never found.
Baron Stanislav Ivanovich, a well-known collector, created the best museum in Volhynia in Ivnytsia - an art gallery, a collection of ancient coins and engravings, objects from the period of antiquity. The huge library contained 40 thousand volumes, included old manuscripts and early printed books, autographs of Polish kings. Even during the life of Stanislav, some of the rarities were sold to the Hermitage, the collection of coins ended up in London. Manuscripts from the collection of Choduars and the archive are kept by the National Library. Vernadsky in Kyiv, the local history museum and the regional archive in Zhytomyr. Stanislas Chaudouard's book on numismatics, "Review of Russian money and foreign coins used in Russia since ancient times," was recently put up for auction in Paris.
