Ancient fortress in the UAE
The picturesque Al Jahili Fort is one of the most ancient fortresses in the UAE. You can see this landmark depicted on the back of the 50 dirham banknote. The fortress was built in 1891 to protect the city of Al Ain.

For animal lovers
Al Ain Zoo, the largest in the UAE, is home to more than 4.000 animals. 30% of the 180 animals shown here are considered endangered. The zoo cooperates with the International Association of Zoos and Aquariums in the field of conservation of these rare animal species.
