The trip and vacation was very interesting. We flew from Frankfurt Hahn to Porto, in the north of Portugal. The hotel was booked for us on the spot, in Vilamoura, and it cost us 3 times cheaper than if we did it from Germany.
When you visit a foreign country, once again you are always convinced that without a language, as without hands.
We needed to buy tickets in Porto for the next bus to the very south, to Vilamoura. This is where the problems began, despite the fact that we had prepared some words and sentences in Portuguese in advance. We couldn’t explain in any way that we needed tickets for the next flight, we suffered for a long time with the cashier, and we wrote everything on a piece of paper, and they showed on the clock whether there would be a big bus station, otherwise it’s like we have in some regional center . After a lot of suffering, we were lucky: we saw fellow countrymen who have been living in Portugal for a long time, they helped us buy tickets, and then everything went like clockwork.

We traveled the whole country by bus, from north to south, with one change in Lisbon, and we didn’t get tired, because everything was interesting. The bus was almost new, very comfortable, but we didn’t sleep for a second, we just had time to look left and right . Autobahns are wide, new, and oleanders are planted everywhere on the dividing strip, at that time they bloomed. And roads were being built all around, but when we were there in 2008, roads were also being built.
The landscape does not shine with special beauty and variety: small shrubs, thorns, brown-red earth. There are small forests, but fires rage there very often, we did not see them, but we met scorched earth and scorched trees after the fire on some section of the path. Closer to the south, it became more or less green, and such poverty was all around, we saw terrible sheds in which people live.
Late in the evening we arrived at "our" Vilamoura. The bus station is very peculiar: an ordinary bus stop in the city center, if we had not seen relatives meeting us, we would probably have traveled further.
All resort towns are very beautiful: Vilamoura, Quarteira, Albufaira, Lagos, Pera, Algarve, Faro, they are all nearby.
The hotel, where we practically only spent the night, is chic. Our room was with a balcony, overlooking the Atlantic, the room had "modern" furniture, there was nothing to complain about. The hotel has its own beach, a magnificent beach, however, like all the many kilometers of countless beaches in Portugal. But since we were a large company of relatives and friends, then we were on other beaches.
The hotel is located in the very center of the town, next to a beautiful walking area - the "MARINA" embankment, and around there are many elegant yachts of the most extraordinary beauty. Near the casino, the performance there is inexpensive, about 16-20 euros, the dance group is basically all of ours, Russian. Near cafes, souvenir shops. Well, naturally, we took all the excursions on the spot: for locals, one price, for tourists - others.
The only thing I didn’t really like was the countless sellers on the beach, but if you close your eyes, they pass by, they don’t bother.

Everything exists nearby: luxury and after 5 meters such poverty. But we must pay tribute, everything is constantly being improved. When we arrived there again after 2 years, we were pleasantly surprised, there were more sunbeds and umbrellas on the beaches (everything is paid), wooden paths appeared, there were more cafes, more cleanliness and comfort.
There were almost no Russian speakers at all, a lot of English people, the Portuguese themselves from the north, and a lot of dark-skinned people.
Would fly there again, but I want to see other countries!
