The main building of the hotel stands, as it were, on a hill, and the rest of the buildings go down, ending with access to the sea. There is an elevator for descending at each level. There is no beach as a current one, sun loungers stand on a concrete slab at each of the two pools, there is a descent into the sea by stairs quite convenient (not for children), you must immediately swim, deep. Madeira still has beaches, few of them, some with black sand of volcanic origin. A friend came from a nearby hotel across the road, she chose everything so that without “Russians”, but it turned out to be impossible to swim there.
We took the J. suite, a very impressive view from the window, there is a mini-dining room with a set of dishes and a kettle. It is better to buy water right across the road in a supermarket, all in the room for a lot of money. Good breakfast, didn't order any other food.
The good location of this hotel gives it a big plus. Quite close to the center of Funchal, cross the road and go straight up or turn right and go through the port area, exit to the central promenade. But the road through the port seemed to us not very pleasant, deserted and disturbing, we used it only once. There are enough restaurants near the hotel, but it is better to choose a place a little further away for dinner. Turning from the hotel down the street to the left, you will come across all sorts of establishments with very tasty cuisine, which is typical of Portugal, and excellent local "green" wine. In the same direction there is a rather famous fish restaurant "O BARQUEIRO", everything is delicious, but the prices bite. Very close to this restaurant there is the Madeira Forum shopping center, nothing special, but we bought something. It’s better to take a taxi to the shopping center and the restaurant, it’s not clear with buses . . Or maybe you can get there on foot, we took a map in the tourist center and orientated ourselves on it.

We bought a tour of the island, which we did not regret. Have a look at the nearby sights. Walk along the central embankment to the end, where the boarding of the funicular begins, which is already visible from afar. They take you to the top platform, where there is a wonderful tropical garden and the Monte Palace (former hotel), very beautiful, and the views from the funicular are breathtaking. Leaving the tropics, you change to another cable car, you find yourself in a beautiful botanical garden, there is a bird park at the exit. A walk is what you need!
In Madeira, you can relax at any time of the year, it will be comfortable and fun!
