Zaraysk. The place where you would like to move to live
It's good to have someone to go with. The bad thing is that there is a catastrophic lack of time, and sometimes even energy. But our rather large group of friends made it a rule to get together at least once a year and go to an interesting place where communication, disconnected phones, drinking and all sorts of outrages. For the sake of this, ten years ago we created the Order of Fighting Emeralds*, which allows us to force ourselves to drop everything and rush no matter where. . .
This time we chose Zaraysk.

The city, judging by the reviews, is rather dull. Of the truly interesting sights, an old water tower was found there. . .

This is not the most provocative number yet. In the suites, green lighting illuminates orange bedspreads on purple beds

Of course, there are temples in Zaraysk.
And the Kremlin.
And interesting old buildings.
But after many years of such travels, the brain is washed away from repetitions and interest in such objects tends to zero.

I apologize for the quality of the photo, but since the goals of the trip were, among other things, ugliness, some photographers perceived reality like this:
Well, we got together in the amount of 13 people - and went, knowing in advance that the city would not cause much enthusiasm.
But we were wrong.
First, the hotel. Despite its ambiguous interiors, it provides a package of services much more than expected. All sorts of roses from towels and bathrobes were unexpected to meet in the middle lane. There are about five hundred channels on the TV, including such perky ones as "Naughty" or "O-la-la". Huge balcony for smoking. And yet - there is no room for breakfast, but they are. The maid brings them warmed up to the room and you can have breakfast without getting out of bed.
The tower. She is good. Inside, pipes and mechanisms that are more than a hundred years old have been preserved.

The tower has its own tour guide. At the entrance, she offers, but does not insist, to wear helmets. If you suddenly get there, then do not refuse a helmet. For two of our company, helmets saved their heads from hitting ancient cast iron.

This is really a landmark of the city. Good, positive, without much absurdity of the story. For example, before without a king, Zaraysk was a center for raising geese. And they had to be driven over a sufficiently long distance for further transportation to Moscow. So, the goose shepherds poured heated pitch over the ground, let the geese over it, and then the geese walked along the poured sand. As a result, a sufficiently strong, but flexible sole was formed on their paws, which protected delicate crow's feet.
But the rest of the sights that we initially rejected turned out to be interesting.

In Moscow, pre-revolutionary tenement houses are luxurious. The apartments in them are now sky-high. And this is what a profitable house in the province looks like:
But everything is in the process of restoration. The city received a grant for the development of the tourism industry, as a result, the entire center was dug up. The features of pedestrian streets and tourist routes are already visible.

But that's not the point. Zaraysk turned out to be a very nice, non-poor, calm city. High-rise buildings did not spoil it. Even modern residential buildings do not fall out of the general style.

When the navigator showed us a traffic jam in the city center, we tensed up. It turned out that at the traffic lights it was necessary to defend more than one cycle. People live!!!
Calmness and laziness of Zaraysk was confirmed by the next episode.
When I asked the hotel receptionist how to get to the ordered sauna, he began to explain the way in some detail. To the left, then straight ahead, then to the left. . . At this point, I interrupted him and said that I remembered it, and then I would ask someone how to go further. The receptionist, in all seriousness, said: "Who will you ask? There is no one on the streets. It's too late. " We ended up taking a taxi. There were very few people indeed. It was 7pm Saturday.
In short, Zaraysk turned out to be a city where it is really good. And come, and, probably, live.
Many of the Fighting Emeralds*, sitting at the table, raised their glasses to the fact that they will move to this restful city for retirement.
