Think for yourself....

I want to share my opinion about the Bellevue Hotel. In general, the choice of the city itself Stary Smokovec was correct. This is due to the fact that from this point you can easily get to Tatranska Lomnica and Strbske Pleso, and to the city of Poprad, and even to Jasna. From the station Stary Smokovec walk a small but very comfortable train (tram). A trip on it will cost you approximately 7 crowns in two directions. The train runs according to the schedule, which can be viewed at the hotel reception. And of course there is a slide directly in the city - Gribenok. But I can tell mountain climbers right away that the hill is not even worth your visit. First of all, it is terrible and very broken. Secondly, the trailer that goes upstairs waits for people for a very long time and moves slowly.

In general, I want to say that Stary Smokovec is a small village. And those pictures of the nature of the city, and of the hotel itself, that are on the Internet do not correspond to reality.

In 2004, a terrible hurricane passed here, leaving behind a huge number of fallen trees, uprooted roots, and unsightly stumps. Therefore, the Bellevue Hotel is surrounded not by blue spruces, but by stumps. Not a particularly pleasant sight. The hurricane swept through the entire area of the High Tatras, but in the Strebsky Pleso, the landscape is still amazing. I can also say that it is here, the most acceptable slide.

If we talk about Tatranska Lomnica, then this is the closest hill from Stary Smokovec. The tram ride takes 15 minutes. The track itself is long and interesting, but not at all well-groomed. At one stretch, my friend was crying because she just felt sorry for the skis. But if the weather is sunny, then you can go to the very top. There is an amazing track here, wide and very good, you can also see amazing landscapes near the observatory, or you can climb even higher to the peak.
But you need to buy separate tickets for the peak, and their number is limited.

In general, of all the slides, we liked Jasna the most. Gorgeous wide trails, a large number of them. But on the weekends, and especially during the New Year period, there were a huge number of people. I can say that almost all slides worked until about 15.30.
The only place where there was evening skiing is the Tatra Lomnitsa. But bumps lie in wait there during the day, and in the evening, you yourself understand.

I can say the following about the hotel: we didn’t have to choose for the new year, we took what they give. And they weren't disappointed. We were lucky and we ended up in Bellevue 2 - this is the second building of the hotel. From the outside, and from the inside, I can say that the hotel was built not long ago. Everything is very worthy, new, but not luxurious furniture, very clean corridors, and the food for breakfast was quite acceptable.
We did not take suppers so as not to become attached to the hotel, but I can say that there are problems with food in the city. After much torment and going to bars and restaurants, we came to the conclusion: you can only eat in two places. Koliba, but only the one near the railway station. And the bar restaurant Santal, it is located on the left side of the hotel, 20 steps away. Highly recommend, the food is civilized and not very expensive. We've been hanging out there constantly for the last few days.

There is also a "laser" disco in the city. I can say it's not bad. Modern music, good interior, and most importantly not expensive vodka. In general, when there is nothing to do in the evening, this is not the worst entertainment. Even from evening entertainment you can go to the water park with "thermal springs" in the city of Poprad. But tune in to the fact that it's just a 25m pool, and three small chlorinated pools on the street (this is the thermal springs) and two completely ridiculous slides.
The only place we hung out was the warm jacuzzi. But we were not the only smart ones, so we were like herrings in a jar. Well, the city of Poprad itself in the evening haze resembles Moscow biryulyovo. When I got off the train to the platform of the city of Poprad, I was even scared, and the absence of people at 18.00 is generally annoying. If you have a choice between a trip to the high or low tatras, I can say: the advantage of the low tatras (Jasna) is excellent trails, but you won’t be able to walk around the city in the evening, because it simply doesn’t exist. You won't have anywhere to go besides the hotel. The conclusion is to take a good hotel. Well, the advantage of the high Tatras, or rather Stary Smokovec, I have already told. Think for yourself... .
