There are two small pools on the territory, there are few people there. In addition, on the beach you can use the pool and sunbeds of another hotel - centara grand. Very comfortably. The path to the sea is not as scary as many scare. The steps are quite steep at the end of the descent, but on the 2-3rd day you get used to all the features. But it’s five minutes to the sea and it’s not scary to recover from hearty hotel breakfasts.
As far as food is concerned, the breakfast is quite good. There are lighter dishes - scrambled eggs, sausages, cereals, yogurt, toasts, fruits (3-4 items to choose from), and more substantial - noodles, vegetables, soups, waffles, pancakes, etc. In my opinion a very good choice.
Dinner at the hotel is quite expensive, it is cheaper to eat in the city. But keep in mind - to get to the main infrastructure (cafes, 7/11, pharmacies, etc. ) you need to either take a taxi or walk for 20-25 minutes (the second option is not very good, since you need to go along the road without a sidewalk with busy traffic). In this case, rent a bike or get ready to pay 200 baht for a taxi (although the ride is no more than five minutes).
All the entertainment is also not far away - I didn’t want to give all the money for a taxi, but I don’t have any experience riding a bike, so we looked for alternatives through local travel agencies. There are tons of options on the Internet - you don’t need to go far. According to the price tag - several times lower than that of the tour operator and everything can be ordered online. You have to go down the path through the jungle to the beach (5 minutes). The beach is clean sandy (on Karon the sand creaks underfoot!!! ). To get to the beach, you need to go not only through the jungle, but also through a restaurant located on the very shore. I recommend trying local dishes there - cheap and very tasty, despite the plastic furniture and apparent unsanitary conditions. In fact, everything is prepared from fresh ingredients in front of your eyes. In Thailand, you should not pay attention to the surroundings of restaurants at all - in some eatery with plastic furniture they will feed you just as tasty as in a respectable restaurant, but several times cheaper.
The hotel staff is very friendly, smiling and courteous.
