Heaven on earth
Good day everyone! We rested in Phuket from July 24 to August 7.2010. From the first days of vacation, the weather did not spoil us, for 14 days the sun shone from morning to evening for 5 days, and on the rest of the days it rained periodically during the day. But that didn't stop us from getting a great tan. At that time we went for a massage (next to the hotel, about 5 meters, if you turn left, there is a small street. There are several cafes and Karma massage parlor, we found it not by chance, read someone in the reviews. We only went there , were delighted. ), rested in the room, looking for gifts and souvenirs. So, HOTEL. We stayed at the Corona Princess Hotel, in a deluxe room. We were completely delighted with both the location of the hotel and the room itself. We were cleaned every day. I really liked the window between the room and the bathroom))) Regarding the audibility in the rooms... every day we slept like the dead, so we didn’t hear anything, but if you have a restless sleep, then the neighbors can disturb you. The breakfasts were very good, varied, we came at different times, and the food was always “full”, the staff followed this, if something was over, they immediately brought a new portion. Between the first and second buildings, there is a building on the roof of which there are 2 swimming pools, a jacuzzi and a bar. The staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming, almost everyone speaks English. Our hotel is located on Corona Beach, but we went to Kata. At this time of the year, the waves are very large, it is almost impossible to swim, and there are almost no waves on Katya.
FOOD. With favorite cafes for lunch and dinner, we decided on the 3rd-4th day. We searched on the principle that where there are more people, the food is tastier there! The most favorite place was the cafe Red Onion (Red Onion). When you leave the hotel, you need to turn right, go to the ring and turn right again, go straight and cross the road. The second place, you need to leave the hotel, turn left, go straight without turning anywhere, there are 5 cafes under one roof, also with traditional Thai cuisine. Do not forget to say No Spicy when ordering, even with Medium Spicy there are too many spices for the usual taste. Be sure to try banana pancakes from local mobile “cooks”. There are also other “cooks” on wheels who do not cook sweets, but fry fish and meat. We decided for a long time and still tried it, everything turned out to be quite tolerable and there was no negative effect on the stomach)))) You also need to eat fried bananas with vanilla ice cream and chocolate, they are made in almost any cafe. And for dessert, Fresh from watermelon, very tasty!
SHOPPING. Not far from the hotel there is a large market with clothes and souvenirs of local production, be sure to bargain, prices are reduced by 2-3 times. One evening, we left on a moped to Kamala Beach, the beach following after Patong, between Patong and Kamala, we accidentally discovered a market, it is located right next to the road, you definitely won’t pass by. The prices there are generally ridiculous, the flip flops that were offered to us in our market for 800, we eventually bought for 250, and there they cost 60 baht. The market is open until 19:00. There is a big, great Grand Festival mall on the island with a lot of good stores like Diesel, Miss Sixty, Armani Exchange (which we certainly didn't expect to see), Zara, etc. True, the prices there are Moscow, considering that we were during the sales period, and even in Russia the sale was in full swing, they were not even thought about there. Of course, local producers are also represented there, the prices in such stores are very low. A trip to the mall is a must, if only for the Japanese restaurant Fuji. The place is just super, everything is unrealistically tasty and cheap. Opposite it is an Italian restaurant, so if you get tired of Thai cuisine and want something familiar, this is the right place.
EXCURSIONS. Naturally, on the very first day, our tour operator came to us and offered excursions with Russian-speaking guides. But since we know english, then we decided to take excursions outside. We found, quite by accident, one Indian woman (if you leave the hotel, you need to turn left and go straight, walk to the traffic light and walk another 20 meters, there will be a supermarket, but there is a “stall” with excursions near it). She took 3 excursions to Pee-wee, fishing and Safari 7 in one. They did not deceive anywhere, everything was on schedule and according to the brochure. Prices are cheaper than those of our tour operators by 2-3 times, depending on the excursion, for example, we were offered 3600 for Pi-wee, we bought for 1200 per person. They took only one free sightseeing tour from the Globe, it doesn’t last long from morning to afternoon, I can’t say whether it’s worth taking it or not, if you eat in the 2nd week, for the sake of variety, you can, but if you don’t eat, you won’t lose anything.
Have a good rest!
