I planned a trip to Djerba for October to avoid the heat. Failed, there at this time the heat continues. The sun shone all two weeks with small breaks and only once there was a light rain. Maybe this is a plus for someone, but I don’t like temperatures above 30 and constant sun.
The national composition of tourists is approximately the following: 60% French / Belgians, 20% Germans, 20% of everyone else, including Poles, Arabs from neighboring countries and Rousseau tourists. French is spoken on the island, my wife and I had enough of it. But English is not at all popular, and our compatriots had a hard time with it, few people understood them. There is nothing to do with the Russian language at all, except for the guide from the operator, no one understands him. It was sincerely pitiful to look at our people expressing themselves with the help of gestures. Some German is also enough.
The beach is good for children and for lovers of floundering. You have to go long and tedious to swim. There was never a storm, but the average excitement constantly raises sand from the bottom, the water is unclear, so diving is not an option, I took a mask with a tube in vain.

The rooms are basic, no frills, but adequate. The layout of the buildings is convenient, pool lovers will like the fact that there are a lot of them and they are different, including indoor and for children.
Food - you won’t be hungry for sure, there are no queues, but the buffet is also a buffet in Africa, just eat, nothing more.
Bars serve just about anything. If you sometimes leave a tip, the bartender will remember you and serve you very kindly.
The main feature of the hotel is its Thalasso Center. My wife and I took as many as 10 days of procedures. We went from 4 p. m. until almost dinner, for about three hours. I recommend not to get excited, but to try first once, maybe someone will not like it a lot.
Of the sights, nothing particularly inspired. By and large, Djerba is much behind other Mediterranean islands in this regard. The city of Houmt Souk - a big bazaar in translation, fully justifies its name. You can see the fortress, the rest - the market, mud and heat.
Shopping - bought a handmade carpet. I feel like I overpaid. You can take a lot of things for little things, just take your time, look around first and be sure to bargain. Cut the price boldly - remove zero, no less. You're still being fooled.
There are a lot of animations, but I'm not a fan, so I don't comment.
I recommend taking a taxi. There are many of them, they drive carefully, they pay by the meter and are quite inexpensive. So I don't see the point in renting a car.
General conclusion: quite suitable for a lazy beach holiday. You can safely take children, even small ones. Many Europeans generally come almost with babies.
