Good afternoon everyone.
We were with a girl (young couple) at the Thalassa Sousse hotel from 21 to 31 July 2011. I would like to write an objective review without any exaggeration. Let's start from the very beginning.
About resettlement. There is one Russian-speaking manager at the reception, and upon arrival we got exactly to his shift. He offered us to choose from 2 rooms: one overlooking the garden (the farthest building from the sea), and one in the very center of the hotel in a small building (near the pool). Although initially we planned to ask for a bungalow, we agreed to the second option, since he categorically refused to settle us in a bungalow, but we have a suspicion that if we give more money, everything will be as you want. The manager subtly hinted at a tip and we gave $10 without any regrets for a great room. As a result, it turned out to be the best place to stay in the hotel, in our opinion. We were informed that there are a lot of insects in the bungalow, by the way. Unfortunately we arrived late and they refused to feed us.

About the number. The room is good, clean and big. Cons: no refrigerator, dim lighting. Of the benefits: good plumbing (although slightly brackish water flows from the tap), excellent air conditioning. Towels are changed every day. As for the safe: it costs 3.5 dinars a day (a dinar is about 22 rubles), BUT we did a good thing: we didn’t contact the reception, but programmed it ourselves according to the English instructions and used it all the days absolutely free.
About the sea. The sea is amazing: a large, clean sandy beach with perfect white sand; shallow sea; there are always a lot of sunbeds (whenever you come, there are always free ones), free mattresses, towels for a deposit (about 10-15 dinars), but we brought our own with us, it’s more convenient; not very expensive water sports. Good beach volleyball. But there was one significant minus: in late July - early August, the jellyfish season began, they are completely invisible in the water, but their bites are significant. In total, the two of us were bitten 4 times. There is a way to make everything go quickly: immediately you need to intensively rub with sea sand for about 10 minutes, it helps.
About food. The hotel is ideal for lovers of fish and seafood. There were: mussels, octopuses, squid rings, tuna and other types of fish. Everything is always fresh, grilled, barbecued. There was also a lot of chicken and turkey. There were snacks during the day: pizza, sandwiches, couscous (you should definitely try it), barbecue, ice cream. Very fast waiters, which is not typical for Arabs. Small lines. Lunch and dinner in 2 shifts, you can go to any. Good a la carte restaurants were in the international and fish restaurants, very cool, they did not have time in the Tunisian. Registration at the entrance to the restaurant.
About drinks. The restaurant and lobby have excellent, undiluted beer, unlike the beach and pool. In the evening, during dinner and after, live music is played on the terrace at the reception and they make just awesome cocktails. They are made according to any recipes, with any ingredients that you wish. Water on coupons and a lobby bar, but they give without them, if you ask.

About the contingent. There are practically no Russians in the hotel. We liked it very much. The whole person speaks English and French, Russian is very weak, but we had no problems with this. Mostly tourists from Belgium and Poland. There were also from England, Germany, France, a few Arabs.
About animation. Excellent animation team, always worthy shows, games by the pool, free of charge: archery, volleyball, bocha, gymnastics, aerobics, water polo, darts. There were parties in the pool, foam on the beach - in general, not bad. Normal slides, you can ride for a couple of days.
About Tunisia. We advise you to go to Medina, take a walk or buy something. To do this, it is best to leave the hotel on the opposite side of the road and catch a taxi (it will cost 5-7 dinars) and ask for the Medina. There, of course, you should defend yourself from the Arabs, bargain, reducing the price every 5 times, not particularly trust the sellers and people who lure you into this or that shop (he tried to lure us by introducing himself as a security guard from our hotel). We bought a good hookah there for 50 dinars. We also went on a two-day excursion to the Sahara from our tour operator - Biblio-Globus (it cost $ 324 for two), we highly recommend !!!
You should keep an eye on valuables, do not just leave them anywhere, in the room too. We had an extremely unpleasant incident: on the day of departure, we left our things in the storage room at the reception and there our phone was stolen from our backpack. Naturally, the hotel took the blame off itself, said that we were to blame, we left valuables in this room, although we were guaranteed that there was a security guard there.
But in general, we had a very good rest, the hotel pulls for a full 5-ku, we have something to compare with. Highly recommended to everyone, you won't regret it!
