August 15 - 24.2008 we went to rest in Alanya. This was our first trip to Turkey, and to be honest, we expected Turkey to be much less to our liking.
Of course, there are drawbacks, hotel construction, annoying Turks, but all this is tolerable and the presence of the sea and gorgeous summer weather more than cover these minor inconveniences.
For comparison, in the summer of 2009 we went to Egypt, to Hurghada, where we liked it much less. There are much more construction projects and the Arabs are more boorish than the Turks. Turkey is still considered a secular state, at least it claims to be. This, of course, does not mean at all that you can completely relax in dealing with the Turks.
