Rested 11 days at the end of July 2011, two adults and a son 10 years old. We went to Turkey for the first time, before that we were in Egypt - in 3 * and 5 * and in Europe. Impressions below.
Location
The hotel is located in the village of Mahmutlar, and on its very outskirts! It takes 3 hours from the airport, not counting the arrivals to the hotels, the buildings of other hotels and residential buildings are closely pressed around the hotel, some of them are under construction, not populated. The village of Mahmutlar is located between the mountains and the sea, on a relatively narrow territory, so if you walk from the sea to the mountains, you can see banana plantations, they are not fenced off, they start right behind the carriageway. In addition to bananas, we saw orange trees there.

There are many shops, cafes on the street and indoors, street collapses, we really liked soft ice cream for half a lira per ball (three balls - a dollar), which is sold everywhere on the street, different tastes, so viscous and delicious.
On Tuesdays, right in front of the hotel, there is an exit market, where you can buy fruits cheaply, and tinker with little things. Trading is required.
The nearest attractions (castle, Damlatash cave, port where yacht tours depart, beautiful embankment) - in Alanya, take a bus for half an hour, travel 2-2.5 lira.

Rooms
We originally booked the Annex, settled in the Annex building B. The building is located a 5-minute walk from the main hotel area. The layout is more reminiscent of a residential building with hotel-type rooms, which it probably used to be. The rooms are spacious, two-room (living room with mini - TV, sofa and two armchairs and a bedroom with two single beds moved together). Very convenient when with a child. There is a large but narrow corner balcony overlooking the mountains, a refrigerator, a sink with a cupboard for dishes.
The individual split system only in the bedroom worked well, but it blew directly onto the bed, which was annoying, we were constantly afraid of catching a cold. The decoration of the rooms is spartan, the walls are simply whitewashed, the furniture is VERY old, soft and therefore absorbed dampness, there is a smell of mold, the toilet and shower are separated only by a curtain, when you wash, water spreads all over the floor, for draining - a hole in the corner of the shower. Initially settled in room 301, but the smell was unbearable (mold mixed with some kind of dust), we asked to be moved to another room. Moved to room 501, the smell was, but much less, but the mixer in the shower did not work (either only hot or only cold water poured). They reconciled with the latter, since there was almost never HOT water anyway, it flowed a little warm or completely cold. But since it was hot even without hot water, cool ones were used without problems.

Of the pluses - in all rooms there is free wi-fi (the password can be taken at the reception from the Ali administrator), the speed is good, we communicated through a laptop with relatives via video link without any problems. There is no infrastructure in Annex, except for a bar and a tiny pool, they ate and spent all the time on the main territory of the hotel, they only came to Annex to sleep. After 11 pm the room was pretty quiet, except for the morning singing of the mullah from the nearby mosque.

Nutrition
The food obviously does not pull on the "four", mostly vegetables, pasta and potatoes, there were only 2 fish in 11 days, there was no meat at all, only soy (always) or chicken (rarely). In the Egyptian treshka, the food was tastier, but we were not hungry in this hotel either. For breakfast there were pancakes, toast or scrambled eggs, for which you had to stand in line for half an hour (there was not always a desire to stand), as well as for chicken, which at the same time was given out in portions, and not as much as you want.
There were no pastries at all, except for buns for breakfast, for sweets only sweetened wallpaper paste (that's what we called it, but it was most likely made from starch). And we so dreamed of trying Turkish sweets and pastries! Of the fruits, there were only watermelons and melons, once there were grapes and plums, but not everyone got them. Cutlery was taken by ourselves, the tablecloths were dirty. It didn’t really bother us, but even in the Egyptian treshka tablecloths were laid fresh after each visitor. On the beach from 11 to 18 there were tortillas with stuffing, tomatoes, lettuce, pickled vegetables, french fries, spaghetti, soy patties, twice watermelons. From drinks you can drink Fanta-Cola-Sprite, rum-Cola, crayfish, beer, red wine, but not white (just disgusting). The so-called juices are pure chemistry, they themselves have seen how a white powder is diluted in water.
You can only drink pure water from coolers and a fermented milk drink like our ayran (kefir - water - salt), I think that it is also made from powdered milk. Once (July 31) they organized a "Fish Dinner" holiday, there were fish, meat, grilled chicken, and at the end even ice cream, fireworks, pranks. This dinner somewhat rehabilitated the hotel restaurant in our eyes, but in general ...It seemed that they were saving money on food all ten days in order to arrange such a good dinner once. But we were not hungry, there was always something to eat.

Territory

There is practically no territory, the hotel looks like a big anthill. There are 3 water slides, but when sliding down, you need to pinch your nose: the water in the pools is overchlorinated, if it gets into the nasopharynx, it causes irritation, and can also cause irritation on the skin.
There is a good spa, a hammam and an expensive massage ($40 per person, if you bargain, they will make a discount), but if you pay once, you can go to the steam room and sauna for free all other days, which we did.

Beach
An underpass leads from the hotel to the beach. The beach is small pebbles, quite littered (cigarette butts, pieces of paper). There are almost always huge waves on the sea, without risk to life you can enter only in one small area cleared of stones, and people are constantly crowding there, in other places you can break bones on stones.
We went to Turkey for the sake of the sea, to swim. But they didn’t know that there was a special coast in Mahmutlar, almost always a storm ...The first two days the waves were huge, it was necessary to seize the moment to go into the sea and not be knocked down by the wave, and quickly swim from the coast, where there are not so dangerous waves. But getting out of the sea is a problem. It was blown to the stones, at the exit the crests of the waves were raised and thrown onto them.

On the first day, we just had a few bruises, but my son was lifted up by the wave and hit the stones harder, and then he was generally afraid to go into the sea for a couple of days. In general, the beach is not for calm swimming. Even floating children are better not to let go of themselves in the water, be sure to insure when leaving! In general, we had plenty of swimming, it’s also cool to ride the waves, but our child has been studying at a sports swimming school for two years, so we weren’t particularly afraid for him at sea, we only insured when we went out. But we saw cases when children in armlets or vests could not row ashore, because with each wave they were blown into the sea. here their parents rescued them, pushing them ashore, and at the same time, both children and parents were overwhelmed by the oncoming waves ...In general, the coast would come down for amateur surfing. In a storm, people like peas sat on the bank and caught the oncoming waves, only a few daredevils ventured to swim. There are no lifeguards on the beach.
He took our voucher and did not give it back, saying that without a voucher we would be taken to the police. However, the next day he still gave the voucher and could not really harm us in any way. They wanted to call Odeon Travel to complain about him, but they thought that he was not worth spending money on a call. His motive is extremely simple: from each tourist, he can get up to 300% of the profit by selling excursions bought around the corner.
We bought excursions (rafting and a yacht tour) at a local agency, which is located to the left of the exit from Klas Dom and from the side of the hills (50 meters, Edik works there, he is a Russian-speaking Georgian) and did not regret it, everything was super, and in 3-4 times cheaper than Orhan! On excursions with us there were only foreigners, which did not bother us at all, on the contrary. There were no problems with the transfer on excursions and after.
We arranged a tour of Alanya on our own, were in the Damlatas cave, on the Cleopatra beach, in a tower on top of a cliff. Great, what more can I say!
Animation
There are 3 animators, only one of them is professional, whom everyone called Deniska, although he is Turkish, speaks Russian and English with a big accent. There was practically no daytime animation, except for beach volleyball, which was played mainly by the animators themselves. Children's animation is the same every evening (aram-zam-zam), but the child really liked it. Adult animation - vulgar contests, where newly arrived (not knowing what awaits them! ) vacationers were exposed to ridicule, whom Deniska snatched out of the crowd with an unmistakable eagle look. There was also a free disco, but we had to go there by bus, the return was at 3 am, and since we were with a child, we found it inappropriate to visit.

The general conclusion: the Klas Dom hotel (I'm not talking about Annex) does not pull on the declared "four", at best, on the "troika". And although we had a great rest in general, we expected more from the hotel!
But the main thing - the sea, the sun, good impressions - received in full!
