In August-September 2018, we rested at the Bodrum Bay Hotel.
My wife and I are not snobs, although we traveled, flew and saw a lot. We have been traveling for 15-20 years. We saw different hotels - both very expensive, and expensive, and budget ones; both European and Asian.
This time we did not choose the hotel, we were presented with a tour to this hotel. As always, before the trip, we read reviews about the hotel on Turpravda and on Tophotels. ALL reviews are negative. To put it bluntly, terrible reviews. If we had chosen the tour ourselves, we would never have bought a tour in Bodrum Bay. The only plus that all the tourists wrote about is nature, the sun, the sea. But, they don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. We were ready for anything and prepared for the worst. There would be a roof over your head, some food, the sea and the sun. Well, do not refuse the gift, especially since you have never been to Bodrum yet.

So, we arrived at the hotel. Approximately at 15 o'clock. Spacious lobby; without scope, without Turkish chic, but quite worthy. The reception desk is small, but sufficient to serve 5-6 people at the same time. There are 4 receptionists behind the counter. They smile. They meet. Language English and Turkish. Russian is weak. Let's be honest, they don't know Russian at the reception. (Bodrum resort is still little mastered by our tourists. By ours, I mean Ukraine, Russia and all the post-Soviet space. ) But they are friends with English. Fast filling of guest cards, keys, cards for beach towels. All registration 3-4 minutes. They take our 2 suitcases and escort us to our room. The first impression is good. In the room, the boy brings his suitcases, sincerely wishes a good rest with a smile, and leaves. This is not the end of the reception. Surprise. We are given a large fruit platter and a bottle of wine in honor of our arrival. It turns out that those who gave us this tour warned the operator that we had an anniversary and the Turks presented us wine and fruits without paying. On the bed, as often in Turkey, 2 towel swans and rose petals in honor of the anniversary. We are in a good pleasant shock.
The room is objectively not new, but clean, neatly tidied up. A large double bed, an armchair, a table, a mirror, TV and a small bed under the window for a child if you are traveling with 1 child. The air conditioner is not noisy. We were lucky - we did not have a balcony, but a whole small terrace with a table and two chairs. But there are rooms with small and very tiny balconies.
Road to the beach. The hotel is terraced, many steps to the beach. Approximately how to climb 4 or 5.
But 2/3 of the way to the beach or back can be driven by a cabin, such as an elevator for 5-6 people. Sometimes they waited up to 5 minutes for a booth, but more often they arrive faster. We used the stairs and the elevator.
The beach is spacious. The beds are ok but no mattresses. There were enough sun loungers even at the peak of loading, in August. And in September, in general, a lot of free people go to school.
There is a bar on the beach. Beer, wine, cocktails, spirits, water, coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate. Just above the beach, a Turkish grandmother is frying guzleme and there is ayran in the fridge. Snack bar next to the beach - hamburgers, pasta, fries, vegetables, fruits, drinks.
Breakfast lunch and dinner. Normal Turkish restaurant. Lots of greens, vegetables, cheese. For fish, the choice is small - as a rule, there is always some in cold appetizers (1-2 types of marinated) and hot (1 dish). For meat - there is always some kind of beef in a couple of variations and chicken. A sufficient amount of dessert pastries (cakes, pastries, etc. ). There are always fruits and berries for dessert. Watermelon, melon, plums, grapes, apples, pears, raisins, etc. You won't go hungry.
The staff is friendly. But the staff has a problem - lack of knowledge of languages other than Turkish. The waiters do not know any, the bartenders practically do not know English, although they have learned the English names of many drinks.
But the receptionist knows English and

there is a Sabina guest connection in the lobby. Sabina is fluent in Russian.
The hotel itself is not new but is well cleaned and is being updated. Of course, in some places there may be some freshly painted stain or a slightly worn corner of the sofa, but we did not pay attention to this. The hotel is quiet, there are few children in the hotel. Probably because of the steps to the beach. Until May 2018, the hotel was positioned as 16+.
What makes the hotel stand out is its location. It is located on a mountain and this gives it a huge plus - from three sides there is a beautiful view of the sea. Tourists specially come to the location of the hotel for a photo session.
From the hotel to the center of the evening and night traffic of Bodrum, 10 minutes and $ 3-4 by taxi.
There is no court for tennis players.
In general, we are very satisfied with the trip and the hotel. We got what we wanted - a quiet, good rest in a great hotel. And we simply did not pay attention to minor shortcomings. They are everywhere. Everyone sees what they want to see. We wanted a quiet respectable stay in a good hotel, where there are few Russian-speaking tourists - we got it.
