Traveled with my husband during the winter holidays. The main goal was: to take a break from children and "join Istanbul". So hotel amenities were far from in the first place. However, I would like to note that Grand Tahir did not disappoint. We had a small "used" room, but clean and very warm (and it was 0/-8 outside, January after all). Cleaned regularly, towels, toiletries - everything was in order. The breakfast was not fancy, but plentiful and tasty. The society gathered very decent. As far as I understand, mostly local business travelers stay there, at least at this time of the year. The hotel is located in the "Laleli" area, which is considered "Russian", because our salesmen also like to live here. True, I didn’t see Russians in winter, and that’s okay. : ) Lots of wholesale and retail shops around. To the historical center - 2-3 stops on a cheap and very (well, just VERY! ) decent tram, so we took a taxi only once for all the time, or even just walked on foot. True, Russian is not spoken at the hotel. But three stars work out. We are satisfied, I would stay at Grand Tahir again.
